Senior Falcon volleyball player Emily Cargill officially signed her Letter of Intent to play at the University of Mary Hardin Baylor in Belton, Texas. Cargill will continue her academic and athletic career at UMHB after a stellar career with the Falcon volleyball program. There was an official signing ceremony for her on January 14.
Cargill shared with KRGV why she chose UMHB.
“When I went to the college I completely fell in love with the coach and the school,” Cargill said. “The coach was so nice, he reminded me of how I would be in college and my family wouldn’t be around, but I know that he would be there with me and he would take care of me in the best way possible.”
Cargill’s four years at LFHS was filled with a lot of success and awards. She surpassed 1,000 kills, was a two-time back-to-back 32-6A MVP, 1st team All-District, Lower Valley Hitter of the year, and Brownsville Herald Lower Valley MVP.
The University of Mary Hardin Baylor is a tremendous program to play for, their Beach Volleyball program won the American Southwest Conference this past season.
Head coach Anissa Lucio says the Falcons will miss having Cargill next year.
“Losing her is a big thing,” Lucio said. “She’s been with me for the past four years and has made major contributions to this program. She is going to do amazing things at UMHB.”
