The Los Fresnos NJROTC Chapter held its end of the year awards ceremony on April 28, which consisted of handing out many pins, ribbons, and certificates, at the Los Fresnos High School cafeteria after school.
Parents and family members viewing the ceremony sat in the top half of the chairs while cadets and staff sat in the half at the bottom in front of the stage.
The ceremony began with the National Anthem and a prayer performed by the cadets as the medals and awards were set to be given out.
“It wasn’t my first time on stage so I knew how it felt but I didn’t have any idea what position I did get,” Communications Officer Rank: Lieutenant Junior Grade Hrothgar Bazan said. “I was happy to hear my new position as I got a higher rank due to it and still had some level of authority,”
Throughout the ceremony, Chief Cacy announced the cadets, their awards, why they received the awards, and in between heartfelt speeches, jokingly told the cadets to “go away” to break a few silences.
With the ceremony reaching its final stretch, the guest of honor, a Major General handed out three $1000 dollar scholarships to graduating cadets.
