Los Fresnos Highschool’s HOSA held a blood drive in the back gym on October 23, an event that happens twice a year to encourage students to be living donors and give blood for patients in need.
“We can teach students the value of community service, helping others, and understanding what a living donor it,” stated Mrs. Erika Martinez, a health science teacher at Los Fresnos Highschool, “It’s import to clear up common misconceptions of blood donation.”
This year over a hundred students participated in the blood drive. They were able to experience what it was like to be a living donor while also facing and easing their fears of making these kinds of donations.
“I think it eases their fears so they know its not something top be afraid of,” stated Mrs. Martinez.
Students who participated in the blood drive showed bravery and selflessness as they donated blood last Thursday.
