On Friday, January 12th, Los Fresnos FFA members attended the Tip O Tex (TOT) Prospect Show held at the San Benito stock show grounds. A total of around 69 members from the Pig, Cattle, and Lamb & Goat divisions attended the Tip O Tex this past Friday.
Sophomore Kassy Sanchez placed first in her class and grand champion in the cattle division with her commercial ABC heifer. She was very enthusiastic and pleased with the performance of her heifer Star.
“After the show I was excited since this was mine and Star’s first time winning a little higher. ” Sanchez said, “My mom took videos so I can improve in the ring because there was some stuff I forgot to do, like hold my stick right and look at the judge. I am excited for the next big show to see what we place.”
FFA Advisor, Mrs. Sanchez discussed the dedication and passion that the students showed on that day.
“Our students have spent countless hours working with their animals,” Mrs.Sanchez said. “This prospect show verified that placing in the top five of their classes and some of them placing first is an example of the commitment they place on their animal project. I am very proud of our students and the experience they are learning, but most of all the bond they have created with their animal project.”
