Christmas is a very special holiday to most of the world. Depending on religion, tradition, and even time, we all celebrate it differently. Some of the most traditional ways to celebrate it are to gather with family and to decorate a tree in the family living room to show the Christmas spirit.
Many families in the U.S. and Mexico cook briskets at this time of year since it is something that only comes once a year. Tamales are also a very traditional dish in the south, including Mexico.
This holiday signifies kindness, and the act of giving. Some families, depending on religion see it differently, but overall Christmas is the season where families come together and they enjoy each other. No matter how they celebrate they enjoy the holiday and the time that they get to spend together.
“Christmas isn’t really about the presents for us,” junior Eliazar Garza said. “We enjoy the time that we spend together as a family, while making the same meal to eat later.”
Junior Tyler Stachowiak is looking forward to being with his family during the break.
“No matter what we might be doing all year, during this time is when we calm down and focus on what really matters,” Stachowiak said.
Senior Orlando Rivera is looking forward to his family traditions.
“Every Christmas morning, we wake up early, make some coffee and open the presents slowly.” Rivera said. “It’s a simple tradition, but it means a lot to the whole family.”
