Back to the Future returned to theatres on October 31 to commemorate the release 40 years ago, on July 3, 1985.
Back to the Future is a classic 1980’s film that is still one of Universal Studios’ highest grossing films. It was such a popular franchise that made people wonder if they could make another sci-fi like this one. Back to the Future was such a success that it spawned two sequels, Back to the Future 2 and Back to the Future 3.
Back to the Future is based on “Doc” (Christopher Lloyd) who had created time travel by using a modified DeLorean car, and his small-town California teen friend, Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox) who gets sent back to the past in this car. As Marty runs into the younger versions of his parents he accidentally messes with the timeline, and he must do everything he can to make sure his parents fall in love again or him and his siblings will cease to exist all while having to make sure he gets home at the exact same time he left.
LFHS Junior Eduardo Flores has seen all Back to the future movies and was pleased to see the original re-released in theatres.
“I have always enjoyed this movie growing up,” Flores said. “It just reminds me of the good times when I would watch this with my parents I hope they bring it back for its 50th anniversary just like they did for the 40th anniversary. It’s a movie that I wouldn’t mind seeing a lot. This movie was definitely ahead of its time with the special effects.”
