The Los Fresnos boys basketball team is looking to repeat as 32-6A District Champions after winning the title in 2023-24. With the season just getting rolling, the boys currently have a record of 4-1.
Head Coach Marco Hinojosa says their team never stops working and uses every day to get better both individually and as a team.
“At the end of the day it takes a team to be successful and no one player can win the game for us,” Hinojosa said. “But when the team plays unselfish and every individual does their job right in their role, this team can be fun to watch.”
Senior Gio Galvan was the player of the game for Tuesday’s game against Pace high school with a final score of 72-32.
“The recognition as Player of the Week is just a reflection of the work I’ve been putting in during practice and the trust my teammates and coaches have in me,” Galvan said. “Whether it was scoring, making the right play, or hustling on defense, I aimed to do whatever my team needed to get the win.”
Galvan was mainly focused on helping his team succeed and step up to lead the example for his teammates. He also hopes to improve his skills, consistency, and become a more versatile player.
“I want to help my team reach the playoffs and compete for a district championship,” Galvan said.” Ultimately, it’s about leaving everything out on the court and making this season one to remember.”
Next on the schedule for the Falcons will be the Santa Rosa tournament, where they will be competing from November 21-23.
