The first round of the Women’s College Basketball March Madness tournament began last week, on March 22.
The number 1 seed and favorite to win the tournament this year is South Carolina, but there are many other strong teams who can win. The top five ranked teams are South Carolina, Iowa, LSU, Stanford, and the Texas Longhorns.
A total of 68 teams will compete to win this year’s tournament. There are six rounds; the first round, the second round, Sweet 16, Elite Eight, The Final Four, and the National Championship game on April 7.
The first weekend of the tournament was amazing; only 16 teams are left and will advance to the Sweet 16. Those teams include the South Carolina Gamecocks, the Texas Longhorns, the USC Trojans, the Iowa Hawkeyes, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, the UConn Huskies, the Stanford Cardinal, the UCLA Bruins, LSU Tigers, NC State Wolfpack, Oregon State Beavers, Indiana Hoosiers, Gonzaga Bulldogs, Duke Blue Devils, Baylor Bears, and the Colorado Buffaloes.
The Sweet 16 begins on March 29 and is highly anticipated to be a competitive action-packed round in the NCAA’s March Madness. All these players have worked extremely hard to get as far as they have. They all want to win and be crowned champions, but for now, we’ll have to wait. After all, anything can happen in March Madness.
