As a long time New York Jets fan, all I felt growing up was hardship and pain. Season after season has the same outcome, the last 10 years has produced only one winning season.
Thankfully, things were changing in 2022. The additions of potential superstar rookies such as Garret Wilson and Sauce Gardner were contributing to the future of the Jets. The big improvement going into 2023 was acquiring three-time NFL MVP and Super Bowl Champion Aaron Rodgers.
For the past three seasons, the Jets were miserably dealing with a quarterback issue that was holding them back from a playoff opportunity, with third-year QB Zach Wilson the main issue. With Zach’s poor playing performance, the Jets were in a deep hole. Luckily with the addition of Aaron Rodgers, many speculators thought that this Jets team were serious contenders going into this season. With the show “Hard Knocks” documenting the Jets’ offseason, all eyes were on Aaron Rodgers and Head Coach Robert Saleh. Along with “Hard Knocks” raising expectations for the Jets, Las Vegas betting market put the Jets odds win the Super Bowl in the top 10 in the league.
Sadly, things were too good to be true, and drastically Aaron Rodgers went down injured in the first game on his first drive as a New York Jet. News of his torn Achilles spread across the world like wildfire. Jets fans heart’s all around the world dropped to the ground, and speculation on the future of the team is at an all-time low. How such a high-level athlete starting in a new life chapter can have their fortunes turned upside down so quickly.
However, along with all the bad news can sometimes bring a bright light. Aaron Rodgers is participating in a new method of physical therapy to somehow increase the recovery time for his career threatening injury. Furthermore, the Jets and Aaron Rodgers season isn’t finished completely, but there are high level obstacles that are pushing towards that way with the play of Wilson. It will be difficult, but hopefully things can come through in the right direction for Jets fans like me.
