Los Fresnos HS held its annual “Powderpuff” game April 19 at Leo Aguilar Stadium, which is a football game that has the senior girls face off against the junior girls. The teams are coached by players on the Falcon football teams from each respective grade. The senior girls won the contest by a score of 28-14.
Many students signed up to participate in it the fun filled game, while many more packed the stands of Leo Aguilar to watch the contest. Proud parents of the players and coaches took advantage of the event that brought out some friendly competition and some laughs.
“Seeing girls go against each other in a sport that is mainly only for boys is fun because it isn’t normal to see a girl playing football and it’s funny just seeing them running around the field mostly not knowing what to do but just trying to be open and score,” sophomore Randy Ortiz said.
Junior Alejandra Ramirez enjoyed the game despite the loss.
“The game was so fun, I was able to be teammates with my friends,” Ramirez said. “Even though we lost, I still had a lot of fun. It was funny seeing the guys cheer and be coaches for us.”
