On Saturday April 22, there will be an Earth Day festival at Los Fresnos Nature Park from 9:00-1:00.

The festival will offer nature walks and bird watching tours for the public. There will also be children’s activities such as face painting and arts & crafts.

Many local nature organizations will have information booths open. Groups such as Texas Master Naturalists and Cameron County Master Gardeners will have information regarding plants and tips on how to grow a home garden. Fragile Planet will share information about animals and their habitats.

There will also be local companies selling homemade products. Rx Gaia Remedies will have all- natural balms, salves, and serums. Rio Grande Soap will have handcrafted vegan soaps for sale.

Cameron County Master Gardeners President Norma Cruz was in charge of pulling all this together.

“Earth Day is a day where we take time to enjoy nature and focus on solutions for our future to be more sustainable,” Cruz said. “Because of this we want to begin locally to better Los Fresnos with help from the community.”

The people of Los Fresnos are excited to be helping improve the environment in their community.

“I gain pride in helping make my community a better place,” Los Fresnos resident Judy Lubben said,
