“Creed” Fans Eagerly Anticipating Next Chapter of Franchise

In just a few days we will see a new chapter of the Creed series.

In the first film, we saw Creed’s origin story. The film highlighted his troubled past as an orphan in juvenile detention. We then saw him make a name for himself rather than live under his father’s shadow. The second film showed his fight to keep that honor and brought back one of Rocky’s most famous opponents, Drago.

This new movie, starring Michael B. Jordan, Tessa Thompson, and Jonathan Major, will continue telling the story of Adonis Creed. The son of Apollo Creed and boxing world champion, Adonis seems to have it made. However, his world comes crashing down when Major’s character, Damian Anderson, comes in as a reminder of his past.

There is a lot of anticipation for this new film as it will be Jordan’s directorial debut. In a press conference, Jordan was asked by Collider why he decided for this movie to be his directorial debut. The SAG Award winner said that now felt like the right time. Twenty years into his career and two movies with this character, he wanted to do more than execute someone else’s vision.

Another factor that has fans interested in this film is the absence of the beloved character Rocky. Sylvester Stallone will not return as the world winning boxer. In an interview with Hollywood Reporter, he explained that the story went into a dark place that he did not wish for the character or for the franchise. Jordan said that a piece of Rocky will always stay with Adonis.

This film has set high expectations for fans. We will see if it meets those expectations on March 3rd.
