Astroworld Festival Distaster

Travis Scott held his annual Astroworld music festival at the NRG park in Houston, Texas on November 5th.

The set started off as adrenaline rushing fun, but as soon as Scott started to perform, a huge crowd surge occurred as fans were attempting to get up to the front of the stadium. Many people struggled to breathe as bodies were being pushed around or against each other, along with others getting trampled by the horrifying stampede.

Plenty of fans that attended expressed how this environment caused everyone’s senses to heighten, panic to settle in, and limbs to push against barriers reaching for help. One young woman by the name of Seana McCarty even went as far as to climb up to the cameraman’s area yelling “people are dying” and pleading that the show must be stopped.

At that point, some paramedics were sent out to try and save any injured or unconscious people, however Scott continued with his show even while lives were being lost. At least 11 people died, their ages going from nine years old and up. Plenty were students of college and even high school with careers and lives that should have led on.

Los Fresnos resident Anna Gabriella Leija, attended the concert, and though she only left with a sore ankle, she now claims to have major concert anxiety.

“I am so grateful I was able to make it out ok, but that kind of experience makes me confidently say I won’t be able to go to any concerts anytime soon.” ‘Leija said.

As a way to make up for it, Scott issued an apology and attempted to give a phone number for resources to help families in need. Although, not many have defended Scott or accepted his apology considering that some attendees of previous concerts have already reported him encouraging dangerous behavior. As of now, Scott and Astroworld organizers are being sued for 750 million dollars.
