Best Banana Bread Recipe

Abigail Chavez, Staff Writer

Banana bread has always been a staple in my family. Everytime we spot bananas on the counter that are a little too ripe, it’s time to make banana bread. It is our go to dessert.

Banana bread is a simple and mouthwatering treat for everyone and anyone to make. Even the worst baker can pull of making this flavorful bread. I will be using a recipe that my mom learned in high school in her home economics class. This recipe has been in our family for almost 25 years.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups of sugar
  • 1/4 cup of oil
  • 1/4 cup of water
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups of mashed bananas (about 3 ripe bananas)
  • 2 cups of flour
  • 1/4 cup of nuts (the kind of nut you add is up to your own preference, I usually prefer walnuts of pecans)
  • 1 teaspoon of baking soda
  • 2 tablespoons of boiling water

Tips

  • For an easier cleanup, only use one large bowl and a small bowl.
  • Also for an easier cleanup, mix your ingredients with a silicone spatula.
  • For a loaf shape, use a 9×5 pan for the bread.
  • A simple method of ensuring that your bread isn’t raw is to poke a toothpick in the bread multiple times. If no batter sticks to the toothpick, your bread is ready to go.

Steps

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F
  2. In a large bowl, mix, sugar, oil, water, and eggs.
  3. In a small bowl, place your bananas and mash with a fork. Then mix the mashed bananas into the large bowl.
  4. Place the 2 tablespoons of water into a mug and heat up for 30 seconds. Once the 30 seconds is up, mix the baking soda with the water.
  5. Place the water and baking soda mixture into the large bowl and mix.
  6. Start mixing the flour a little at a time into the large bowl.
  7. Add the nuts of your choice to the large bowl.
  8. Grease your loaf pan. Pour your bread batter into the pan and bake for around 45 minutes.
  9. Carefully remove your bread from the oven and ensure that none of the bread is raw.
  10. Once you ensure that no bread is raw, remove your bread from the oven. Have your bread cool down completely before slicing to eat.

Carefully slice and enjoy! 🙂
