Best Side At Thanksgiving
Creamy Mashed Potatoes
November 12, 2020
Every year for Thanksgiving my family prepares dishes to bring to a big family gathering, originally each family would bring a dish and we would all meet at one person’s house, because of COVID we’re doing things a little differently this year. Each family is going to be at their own house and we’re all going to call on zoom or make a google meet, in addition to this, within each family everyone has to make or bring something to the dinner. Me being a teenager who doesn’t have much experience cooking decided to make the best side dish at Thanksgiving, mashed potatoes. Here’s how you make it.
Ingredients
- 3lbs of potatoes, peeled and cut into cubes
- kosher salt
- 8 oz. soft cream cheese
- 4 tbsp. butter
- 1/2 cup of milk
- black pepper
- Freshly chopped chives
Instructions
- In a large pot boil potatoes for 17 minutes or until soft. After potatoes are cooked, drain the pot and add the 8 oz. of cream cheese, and mash potatoes together.
- After, melt the butter with the milk over medium-high heat. Once the butter and milk are melted together, mix them into the mashed potatoes until completely combined. Once combined season with salt and pepper.
- Finally, transfer the mashed potatoes to a serving bowl and top with a little more salt, and add the freshly chopped chives on top.
