The Los Fresnos Varsity Golf team has been doing very well in its first few tournaments of the 2025-26 season. The girls team has won all three tournaments so far this year, while the boys are have finished in the top five in each.
Individually, sophomore Isabella Ramirez won the first tournament, and senior Avy Martinez has won the last two tournaments.
The boys team has finished second, fourth, and fourth. Senior Levi Bennett won the most recent tournament, shooting -1 over both days with a second round 68.
The next tournament for the Falcons is the BISD Invitational at River Bend Golf Course on October 24-25.
“This has been a fantastic week for us” Head Coach Agapito Ortega said. “ The girls team has won 12 tournaments in a row, the boys team has also been very promising. Our overall confidence is growing, so we have some very positive feelings.”
Bennett won the SPI Invitational Tournament on October 10-11, highlighted by the four-under round of 68 on day two. Bennett is aiming to repeat as individual District 32-6A champion in April, and help the boys re-claim the team title.
“Our team is performing really well, way better than expected, I only hope we can keep it up.” Bennett said. “I feel great going into the next tournament, just got a win at SPI so getting another win would be great.”
