Students and family members of Los Fresnos CISD gathered to celebrate the grand opening of the Career Technical Education Center and the Performing Arts Center on October 4.
The event featured student demonstrations of the career cluster they are studying and parents were able to ask any questions they had about the course content.
The construction on the projects began in 2024, and they opened earlier this school year. The event appeared to be successful as about 700 people attended the event. Senior Vashti Arena was working the event and had a shared her experience.
“The chef was demonstrating for a few guests in the culinary arts section and made charcuterie cups for them,” Arena said.
Arena is a part of the audio visual club and worked on cameras during the event.
“There were so many people at the grand opening, I helped demonstrate what the AV program is about,” Arena said.
According to information on the lfcisd.net website, LFCISD Superintendent Dr. Gonzalo Salazar is thrilled at the completion of the projects.
“Thanks to the support of our community, we now have modern spaces where students can learn, grow, and showcase their talents,” Salazar said. “These facilities will serve generations of Falcons and are a true reflection of what is possible when a community invests in education.”
At the event, every course had a demonstration, meaning there were a total of 11 demonstrations. The event was campus-wide and was a great opportunity for parents to see what their children are learning about in their chosen career pathway and the environment that surrounds them.
