There will be a new Barnes and Noble opening soon at the Sunrise Mall in Brownsville.

Construction began in May and it should be ready to open in late October. It will be located in the former Wave building and the building is 27,978 square feet. The store will feature a café and there will be a seating area to relax and drink coffee while you read.

Barnes and Noble is the largest book retailer in the United States. It offers products such as books, eBooks, audiobooks, magazines, toys, and games 

The new Brownsville location will a welcome sight to residents in the lower valley, because the closest Barnes and Noble currently is located in McAllen, which about an hour away.

Junior Samantha Ybarra is very excited for this new store and is going to try to work there since she loves to read.

“I love reading and I am happy that there is going to be one here close by us,” Ybarra said.

Junior Nataly Delafuente expressed that she is also excited for the new store and can’t wait to go.

“I can’t wait to go buy new books to add to my collection and I’m glad that it’s close by, ”Delafuente said.
