The annual teachers vs. students basketball game was held on April 11 at the LFHS gym, pitting the class of 2025 against teachers and staff of LFHS and LFU.
Daniela Lopez and I got to coach the staff, and we ended up winning 78-69. The staff had a rough start and first half, but the motivation from the bench and coaching skills helped the staff pull off the come from behind victory.
The MVP was boys basketball Head Coach Marco Hinojosa, while the most energetic was Mr. Stumbaugh. The crowd loved the energy and they were a huge part of this win. I am glad I was given the opportunity to coach these teachers and coaches, it was a great experience and a lot of fun memories that won’t be forgotten!
Hinojosa was proud to win the game’s MVP award.
“It was really fun to compete against the students, we definitely gave them a run and we competed and it was fun to beat them,” Hinojosa said.
The students had good sportsmanship and had fun playing against the teachers. Senior Jessietheresa Brisky soaked up the memories of playing in the game
“It felt amazing finally playing the staff vs students basketball game, it really hit me that I am a senior and that I am glad that I was able to play,” Brisky said.
All in all, it was an honor to coach the staff and to get to see the seniors have fun. Being in that position showed me not to take high school years for granted because it will be gone quickly.
