The RGV livestock and rodeo has come to an end for the year and left supporters with enjoyable experiences. It was a week full of activities and events for a family-friendly time.
The Livestock and rodeo takes back to 1939 when the whole organization started and continues to grow throughout the years. It’s an annual event that is held in Mercedes in March. People from all over the valley attend to see the livestock shows, their famous rodeo and their huge carnival for everyone to enjoy.
Some Los Fresnos students spent their spring break exploring the different events that the show offers and had a blast spending time outside of their regular routes.
Freshman Celia Zavala walked around before getting to see the rodeo.
“The rodeo was so entertaining and a fun experience, there were plenty of animals you could pet and I liked the shops that they had,” Zavala said.
Sophomore Elizeth Mendez went to the carnival for the first time in that location with her friends.
“The carnival is twice as big as the other carnivals in the valley, but the food there is very expensive,” Mendez said.
