The 2025 Charros Days was celebrated this past weekend in Brownsville Texas. The main attraction this year was the 40th annual Sombrero Festival, which made a weekend full of experiences.
This festival started in 1986, when the creators wanted to expand on the Charros Day Spirit. Sombrero Fest has now become a Brownsville original and the largest event in Cameron County. The Sombrero Festival is an outdoor event that is held in Washington Park and has a family friendly environment.
Sombrero fest is full of activities such as the Frijolympics and Chilli Cookoff, Grito Contest, but the main thing people look forward to is the artists that performed. This year on the main stage there were many famous artists such as Banda Los Sebastianes, Pesado, and Scretto.
Los Fresnos students attended this year’s Sombrero Festival and had positive reviews about their enjoyment.
“It was a dream come true hearing one of my favorite bands with my family, and the food selection was delicious,” Sophomore Sasha Arguelles said.
Sophomore Arianna Cedillo went on Saturday and had VIP tickets.
“My first time was amazing,” Castillo said. “I enjoyed every moment. It got very packed, but overall it’s a fun experience and the VIP tickets were worth it.”
