The Philadelphia Eagles are the Super Bowl LIX champions this year after defeating the Kansas City Chiefs 40-22 at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans.
The Eagles dominated and got an early start in the game by ending 24-0 at halftime. The Chiefs tried to bounce back after halftime but unfortunately fell short and couldn’t overcome the big deficit, which was 34-0 at one point.
After the game, the NFL named Jalen Hurts as the Super Bowl MVP of the game after a long journey to get there. After being in the NFL league for five years and being so close to winning the Super Bowl back in 2023, he was finally able to do just that and more.
Senior Ricardo Castillo was cheering for the Eagles as a Vikings fan and was glad to see Jalen Hurts and DeVonta Smith win.
“Jalen Hurts deserves to be MVP after falling short in college and in the Super Bowl two years ago, so to see him win was cool,” Castillo said. “I’m not surprised, because the better defense always wins the Super Bowl. I thought Kansas City focused too much on stopping Barkley, which left the Eagles receivers open.”
Senior Eddie Villanueva thought the refs were more favorable to the Chiefs on specific calls they would make.
“I just think the refs were helping the Eagles cause there’s no way some of the calls were called against the Chiefs,” Villanueva said. “Other than that I think Hurts played one of his best games yet as a quarterback.”
