The Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles will be facing off in Super Bowl LIX on February 9, a rematch of Super Bowl LVII in 2023.
The Chiefs are looking to have a three-peat after defeating the Eagles in 2023 and San Francisco 49ers in 2024. Only one other football team has been able to do that, The Green Bay Packers. They did it once from 1929-1931 under Curly Lambeau and again from 1965-1967 under Vince Lombardi. The Chiefs are looking to be the second team to do that and join the history books.
The Eagles are hoping to break the Chiefs’ streak and win their first Super Bowl since 2018. They defeated the New England Patriots, winning their first Super Bowl title.
Senior Trey Betz is a Cowboys fan and doesn’t like any of the teams in the Super Bowl, but hopes the Eagles will win.
“Although I hate them, at the end of the day they’ve been through adversity and battled it out,” Betz said. “They’re all around just a physical and gritty team and as a fan of football it’s hard to not respect what is going on in Philadelphia.”
Betz also hopes Jalen Hurt or Saquon Barkley win the MVP award because of the struggles they both have been at times.
“From Jalen Hurts being questioned as a leader and franchise quarterback, and Saquon practically being shipped off by New York, to then having one of the greatest seasons by a running back ever, is amazing,” Betz said.
Senior Rudy Moreno also wants the Eagles to win the Super Bowl because he doesn’t really like Patrick Mahomes.
“I don’t know if you have seen the TikToks of Patrick Mahomes where he takes advantage of the refs.” Moreno said. “I just don’t want him to win after all of that.”
