The Mighty Falcon Band made a massive statement during this year’s Area G Competition in McAllen with their show “Iridescent Harmonies.”
During prelims, the band competed against all 6A schools in the Rio Grande Valley. After prelims, the competition took only six bands to the finals competition. The band ended up placing third overall, the best showing in school history.
Eliseo Gamoba, the band’s drum major, was filled with pride after the performance.
“It made me feel proud,” Gamboa said. “Proud that all of our hard work didn’t go to waste and that we did everything in our power to be the best that we could. It made me proud to know that we came together, not only as a band but as a family, to achieve so much.”
Jonathan Quintero, a trumpet soloist in the marching band show, was thrilled with the result of the show.
“I really enjoyed the music from this show,” Quintero said. “I am so proud of the band’s performance and I truly believe that this shows hard work pays off.”
Shelby Baker, a Color Guard member in the show, was happy to see all the work the band put in lead to a strong showing in the competition.
“Finding out we made third place at area was so rewarding,” Baker said. “Realizing all the hard work paid off, and seeing all of my friends so happy just made it even better.”
