The annual Los Fresnos Bi-Literacy night was held on November 7 at the lawn of Los Fresnos Elementary.
The event is used to promote parental, family and community participation in language acquisition in emergent bilingual students. There were free snacks, free books and raffle prizes given out. Several schools and clubs who went to participate, where each had a decorated tent where they read books to kids. The children went around to look around at the different tents and activities that they had to offer them. The LFHS Folklorico performed a dance, while the ELEVA club had their tent decorated for El Dia de Los Muertos. They had face painting coloring pages for the kids, and they also read a Dia de Los Muertos book.
Senior Natalia Garcia, member of Eleva, had an amazing time helping out and seeing the kids enjoy their station.
“It was so fun seeing all the kids get in line to get their face painted,” Garcia said.
Giovanna Curzio, President of ELEVA ,was happy to see how the finished look on the tent came out after all their hard work.
“I loved seeing how the kids enjoyed the decorations that we all worked so hard on,” Curzio said.
