With the 2023-2024 school year coming to an end, Falcons are taking the opportunity to reflect on the journeys that high school has given them. Our graduating seniors, who’s presence and contributions will be missed, will embark on their own journeys and adventures soon. One senior being Makayla Atkinson, an 18-year-old senior graduating from Los Fresnos High School. Below you will find a Q&A Makayla did with our reporter Noelle Rodriguez
Q: “How are you feeling about graduating high school/college? What emotions are you experiencing”
“I’m a little nervous but excited for the next chapter in my life.”
Q: ”What are you most excited about as you look towards the next chapter of your life after graduation?”
“I look forward to the new people I’ll meet and new opportunities ahead of me.”
Q: “What are you most nervous or apprehensive about when it comes to graduating and moving on?”
“School has become a routine for me the last 13 years and I’ve known nothing else so I am nervous to have a lot more time on my hands.”
Q: “How has your perspective on life changed throughout your time in high school/college? How do you think you’ve grown?”
“I can see all the maturity levels I’ve gone through throughout the last four years, and I’m proud of who I am today.”
Q: “What are you going to miss most about your high school/college experience?”
“I’m going to miss my friends and the time I spent here.”
Q: “What are your plans for after graduation? How did you decide on that path?”
“After high school I plan to join the Army reserves and continue my education in Criminal Justice.”
Q: “What is one of the biggest lessons you’ve learned during your time in high school/college?”
“The biggest thing I’ve learned in high school is that the amount of effort you put into something is exactly what you get out of it. Nothing more and nothing less.”
Q: “How do you feel your high school/college experience has prepared you for what’s to come?”
“I do believe high school has prepared me as much as I can for adulthood and moving forward in life.”
Q: “What advice would you give to underclassmen about making the most of their time in high school/college?”
“The four years you spend in high school will fly by. I encourage underclassmen to make the most of their time here and join clubs and sports. I encourage them to not limit themselves from the time they spend at school although it may be tiring. One day they will miss it and wish they did more in high school.”
