Although football season has just ended, Los Fresnos is ready and excited for the beginning of basketball season. Staff writer Jacqueline Barrera conducted short interviews with four Falcons about how they were feeling for the upcoming season. The Falcons interviewed were juniors Julius Barreda, Seth Jones, Renato Cardenas and Gio Galvan.
When do your coaches usually schedule practices?
Renato Cardenas: Varsity and JV Dark practice after school but usually watch film in the morning.
How has the team been preparing for the official beginning of the season?
Julius Barreda: The season officially began this past Tuesday, November 14 with the Falcons vs. Weslaco East being the first game counted on our record. We have been preparing for the season by pushing each other to be better each day in practice and just running through our offensive sets along with some defensive principles.
What is your favorite thing about the sport and how do you feel going into the new season?
Seth Jones: My favorite thing about the sport is playing and growing with my teammates and being able to grow and mature as a team as the season goes on, and being able to create memories along the way. I feel strong going into the season, our team is really good this year and determined to bring that district championship back to LF.
What would you say is something important to you this season?
Gio Galvan: Something important to me this season is making sure all of us on the team can work well together and really give it our all hopefully leading us to bring the district championship home.
