The Los Fresnos FFA competed at the the Rattler Diamondback Showdown Prospect Show held at the Mercedes Stock Show Grounds on October 7.
The group had 12 total members from within the lambs, goats, and cattle section. Seven members placed in the lamb & goats section, and five members were in the cattle section placing in their division.
Sophomore Vaniah Rodriguez placed second in the cattle division with her ABC heifer. She was very enthusiastic and pleased with the performance of her heifer Luna.
“I love to show,” Rodriguez said. “When I got into the ring with my animal I was unstoppable. I felt confident, the way my animal makes me feel when I show is just love, and I don’t know where I would be without both things in my life.”
FFA Advisor, Ms. Guerra discussed the dedication and passion that the students showed on that day.
“It was the first show of the season, and these kids are doing wonderful things,” Guerra said. “It shows how much these kids have worked with their animals and the dedication and passion they put into their SAE Projects (show animals). I am very proud of them for how well they performed in the ring today. I feel with more time that the sky is the limit and only better things can come from them.”
