The Los Fresnos Nature Park
November 13, 2020
Some people run around a track to get some exercise and others might want to walk through a nature park to admire the beautiful scenery. Well, at the Los Fresnos Nature Park you can do both.
The Park’s History
This park has been in the workings since 2016 and has only been getting better as a nature park. In 2016, it had just been a gravel pathway looping around a forest. As years have passed, it gained several branching paths that give a feeling of a secret pathway since there isn’t an official pathway through those routes. The park also has a few exercise tools such as a balancing board, a pull-up bar as well as a push-up bar. In the park’s first year, the whole road had been made of gravel with a 2-foot dirt pile being dumped near the end of the track that you had to either walk around or walk over. There had been excavators and a lot of empty space in the middle that gave the park an empty feel. Now in the present day, the first half of the track is made of gravel while the second half has been coated in asphalt to give runners a lighter feel for their feet.
The Scenery
This 3/4 mile track has nice scenery both while walking on the track and in places in the middle. Before you even start walking, there’s an array of plants that can be spotted near the entrance. These plants can also be scattered in the central areas. There’s also a play area for children to play in but due to Covid regulations, it has been closed. In the first few minutes of the track, you’ll be able to see a river through the trees and bushes. During the rest of the first half, the trees and bushes will be closer to the track and paired with the gravel to give this part a more natural feeling. During the second half of the track, the park gives off a more modern-feeling like the front yard of a rich man’s house. The trees are more spaced out away from the track and the asphalt path only compliments it. This part of the track is also located near the animals that the high school tends to so you can hear the sounds of cows and sheep.
